Last week began shipping the new Apple TV in Germany. Mark was so nice, and has his first impressions of the following short report summarizes for us in. A detailed course we provide for yet.
Connectivity:
Unfortunately, only one optical output and no combined output. So if any amplifier with a matching input (or HDMI input) can be added to operate the unit with its running television – even if one wants to hear only about music.
Setup:
Commissioning and network integration is done with a few simple steps.
Network connection:
Fast Wi-Fi or Internet is essential. At 54 Mbit you wait really long before a film starts, with 300 Mbit you go without delay go away. As an alternative to Wi-Fi can be the Apple TV via Ethernet cable to the home network.
Remote Control:
Remote control is too small for effective control of all functions, the path through the menus is often long. With the iPad’s is much better (coupling via remote app works great).
Image quality:
Super, but no HD, only 720p.
Movies in Germany:
Relatively thin but high-quality and prices are reasonably OK, if the video store is too far, or has not disclosed.
Processing / Design:
As always, the apple very well, the box is in the valence hand.
Conclusion:
Great device for people who have sowiso only Apple devices. People with a mixed environment probably despair: UPnP is not supported so it is with the streaming sources limited to devices really see themselves using iTunes. The unit could definitely still tolerate one or another software update. Technically sound a lot more is possible than what we see now.
The new Apple TV is priced at 119 euros in the Apple online store is available, the delivery time is currently 1-2 weeks.
